During the COVID-19 pandemic, Indianapolis-based real estate entrepreneurs Clay & Evan Manship noticed a troubling trend.
Thousands were losing their jobs, while real estate values and rents continued to skyrocket. Because of this, Clay & Evan jumped in to help, forgiving over $50,000+ in tenant rents payable to their holding company, Mainstay Property Group, throughout the remainder of 2020.
Impassioned by the impact that helping those in need created, Evan and Clay began searching for other ways to combine their real estate experience with helping those in need. In observing the market dynamics of early 2021, large financial institutions began buying of thousands of homes in the United States, often cutting out young families and those looking to buy their first home. Clay & Evan started The Manship Foundation to cut out large financial institutions, and instead focus on providing housing solutions for first time home buyers, or low-income families. Since 2020, The Manship Foundation has enacted its purpose with over 20 families, creating otherwise non-existent affordable housing in Indianapolis, and beyond.
